Palmer's Puppy Paradise is not a kennel. We have been raising exclusively Shih Tzu babies for over ten years, and strive to breed quality dogs that represent the breed standard. Our goal is to provide wonderful pets to loving families at affordable prices. All of our dogs are registered with the American Kennel Club and all of our males are DNA certified. Each one of our dogs comes from champion lineage. Even though it is my belief that you will have a very difficult time finding a superior puppy any where else, this is more of a passion for us than a business, which is why we do not ask exorbitant prices. We are more concerned with the quality of the puppies we produce, not the quantity.
I can't stress enough the importance of finding an experienced breeder. Make sure to ask anyone you deal with how long they have been breeding SHIH TZUS. There are many people jumping into breeding these days, and it will be of great benefit to you to have a voice of experience to call in case you have questions.
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." ( Colossians 3:23)
We, Eileen Palmer and Kate Palmer, are mother and daughter-in-law, and our entire family (both families!) help to raise our Shih Tzu puppies. We do not have a large number of adult dogs to breed and have only a few litters a year. Our babies are born in our bedrooms and raised in our living rooms. They are social butterflies and love children! Puppies from these litters will be available to approved homes only and are sold with a one-year health guarantee. As a favor to our friends, we also list puppies that are available from their litters, usually sired by our males, and will provide you with their names and information. We reserve the option to take first pick from each litter sired by our males, and these puppies may be available to approved homes as well. Once you have selected your puppy, a 20% deposit will be required to reserve it. We understand that circumstances can change. If for some reason you become unable to take the puppy you have selected, your deposit can be held for a future litter or we will gladly refund it, if we are notified within a reasonable time period.
I'm pleased to report to you that our dogs are truly our pets. We love them, and don't use them just for breeding purposes, selling them when something "more appealing" comes along. After a limited number of litters our females and males are spayed or neutered, and either stay here with us, or go to a family member or close friend. This way they remain a part of our lives.
Contrary to what you may have been told, exorbitant prices are NOT necessarily an indication of quality. Unfortunately you don't always get what you pay for. We believe that when purchasing one of our pups, you get MORE than you pay for.
You can depend on us to be very honest. We don't promise that a puppy will be tiny, knowing fully well that it will actually be standard in size; we don't list puppies as "blue", when in reality, they are black; and we don't list puppies as liver when they have black pigment. Beware of breeders who make empty promises.
Do your best to get aquainted with the breeder, and the reputation that they have developed. You are welcome to visit us and meet the prospective parents of your future puppy, We understand that many people desire to visit the puppy once they have selected it, but for health reasons it is best for very young litters not to be exposed to any unnecessary health risks. You are welcome to "look but not touch" until the puppy is a suitable age.
Alfred is located in Western New York which is in driving distance from Rochester, Buffalo and Syracuse. We will gladly drive to meet you for an additional fee, as stated on our "Prices and Information" page.

My husband Ben and I have been married for 33 years. We have five wonderful children, three very special daughters-in-law and two precious grandsons.

Our oldest son Benny married Kate, our first daughter-in-law, in 2003.
Their first puppy Sadie was from my 3rd litter. Kate has shared my passion for the Shih Tzu breed ever since. They now have 3 Shih Tzus and 2 children. Ben is a speech and language pathologist. Kate is a special education teacher, currently on leave to stay home with the boys! They live close by so we get to see them almost every day!

Our second son Greg also lives close by. He is a computer technician for a local company. We will soon be getting our 4th daughter-in-law as Greg is now engaged to his wonderful girlfriend Lindsy.
Our fourth son Andrew and his wife Lisa live a little over an hour away in the Rochester area. Andrew is currently working on his Master's Degree in Counseling. Lisa, our 2nd daughter-in-law, has a Master's Degree in Art Education. They were married in 2008.
Our third son Patrick and his wife Ashly live the closest of all. Upon completeing college, Patrick followed his father's footsteps and works along side his dad in our concrete block business. His wife Ashly, our third daughter-in-law, has a Bachelor's Degree in Music and is currently our church secretary. They were married in 2009.
Our wonderful daughter Eden has just started college so we get to keep her close by a little longer! She has always been an amazing help with the dogs, and I'm so lucky to have had her here with me! She loves to dance and had her senior recital this spring.

Our two precious grandbabies are Quinn (Benjamin Harvey the 5th) and Nolan Stephen. Of course, they are the most amazing children ever born. We are fortunate that they are so nearby and love to visit with their "Grammy & Grampy". They help to socialize the pups too!
